Our policy design supported version control and publish versus draft instances. This allowed portal admins to actively ideate on new versions of a policy without impacting the mesh. Reviewers could easily toggle between the draft instance or view the published version that is impacting the mesh.

In addition, policies could be activated or deactivated entirely.

Portal admins could craft rules with an easy to understand rule construction. Admins would select user or device tags, choose the level of access they would like to grant, select a tag designated the resources they would be granting access to, and define the resource path.

I introduced the concept of applying policy rule schedules and usage counters to provide admins even more scalable control over mesh governance.
